Web server log files
Every time an individual accesses the website of the German Council for Sustainable Development and every time a file is called up, information about this action is stored temporarily in the web server log file on the Council’s server in Germany and processed.
Before the information is saved, it is anonymised via alteration of the IP address. The following information on all access/visits is stored:
Anonymised IP address
Date and time
Name of site or file accessed
Amount of data transferred
Notification if access was successful
This data is evaluated solely for statistical purposes and for the purpose of improving the Web offering and is subsequently deleted. It is not used for any other purpose and is not transferred to third parties.
Postal addresses and email addresses that are provided within the scope of requesting or ordering informational material are used exclusively for correspondence purposes and for sending the requested documents.
Web analysis services
To aid in analysis of usage of this website and for optimising its offering, the German Council for Sustainable Development uses the open-source program Matomo (formerly Piwik), which enables evaluation of website usage – so-called tracking – in a data-privacy-compliant manner. Matomo uses temporary cookies – small text components that are saved in the user’s browser – to allow the Council to perform an exact, however, never personally attributable analysis of a given website visit.
The user information Matomo collects via its cookies, including the user’s IP address, is stored temporarily on the German Council’s server in anonymised form, where it is evaluated and subsequently deleted. It is not used for any other purpose and is not transferred to third parties.
Further, Matomo respects the “do not track” option, which you can activate in your browser to prevent the analysis of your website visit. If desired, the usage of cookies can also be prohibited entirely or on a case-by-case basis in the browser settings.
Below, you have the possibility to at any time prohibit the recording and analysis by Matomo of your visit to the German Council for Sustainable Development’s website in particular by simply clicking that you do not agree to the storing and usage of your visitor data. To do so, please remove the tick in the box next to the corresponding notice in the paragraph titled “Reject”. In this case, a so-called “opt-out cookie” will be stored in your browser that prevents Matomo from gathering data on your visit. Please note that the opt-out cookie itself is also removed if you delete your browser’s cookies at some point in the future. If desired, the opt-out choice would need to be reactivated.
Here, you have the option to decide whether or not an explicit web analysis cookie can be saved in your browser to allow the operator of this website to record and analyse a number of statistical data points.
Should you wish to withdraw consent, click the link which follows to store the Matomo deactivation cookie in your browser.
Currently, your visit to the website is being recorded by the Matomo web analysis tool. Please click here if you do not want your visit to be recorded.
